Description

The early (1965-1966) Shelby Mustangs are the first that Carroll Shelby put his magic hands on. By upgrading the suspension, brakes and output of the already high-output 289 "K-code" V8, old Shel turned Ford's Mustang into a real sports/racing car. The GT350 was a smash success on the track, scoring SCCA Championship victories over its arch rival Corvette. Nowadays, an early GT350 in very nice condition will set you back at least $250,000. Here something for early GT350 enthusiasts to strongly consider -- an incredible recreation of a 1966 Shelby GT350 based on a rock-solid 1965 Mustang. From top to bottom, it's clear to see that this was a meticulous, no-expense-spared effort that was two and a half years in the making. It also has a couple of added perks, including more power and an extra gear compared to an original GT350. The arrow straight and super clean body boasts all-original body panels and a gorgeous, high-end paint scheme consisting of Dark Emerald Green with White Shelby stripes. A set of Magnum 500 wheels wearing Goodyear radials provide the proper punctuation mark. Of course it also features the Shelby hood scoop and functional rear quarter scoops. The fully restored interior also looks factory fresh right down to the new seat tracks and features a fold-down rear seat, a tilt-steering column, racing belts and a Shelby steering wheel. You'll also notice there's a block-off plate where an optional radio would go, but trust us, you won't miss a radio when you hear this car. A new Ford Performance 347 crate motor (built by renowned Blueprint Motors) features a Holley 750 double pumper atop a polished intake, an electronic ignition, and headers running to the dual exhaust with crossover pipe. That potent V8 sends its 415 horsepower through a TKO 5-speed manual and on to the 3.50-geared Ford 9-inch rear end. A Monte Carlo brace in the engine compartment, as well as subframe connectors, underride traction bars and Koni shocks help the car handle the horsepower as well as it handles the curves. Power front disc brakes and manual steering round out the mechanical specs. The underside is so amazingly clean that it earns our "Lasagna Car" designation as we'd gladly eat our Sunday pasta off of it. Out on the road this fully-sorted sixties supercar runs and drives incredibly well, with thrilling acceleration, sure-footed handling and confident braking. It also sounds awesome as you take it through the gears. That fifth gear, which you don't get in a "real" one, makes for effortless high-speed highway cruising -- a nice benefit on long road trips. Offering even better performance while being priced half that of a genuine GT350, this tasteful, high-end recreation offers a fantastic opportunity for the savvy enthusiast. Please call Carroll Street Auto at (603) 627-5595 for further information or to schedule time to view this magnificent Mustang. Financing is offered through our approved lender, trades are welcome and enclosed shipping can be arranged.
