Description

Harkening back to when a compact SUV was actually compact and to a time when styling was crisper than many of the overdone, overweight 'utes of today, the S-10 Blazer is finding greater popularity nowadays. The nicer examples are being scooped up and beefed up, seemingly paying homage to their high-performance GMC Typhoon cousin. Here we have a 1988 S-10 Blazer that came loaded with options. Given its rock-solid condition inside and out, a former owner gave it a very tasteful, light restomod treatment. The black respray looks fantastic, and likely much nicer than the original paint, as '80s GM paint wasn't known for its great quality. The very clean underside is equally impressive, A cowl hood and a set of BBS mesh wheels wearing 225/70/15 Hankook tires are the perfect compliments. Inside it is stock and in amazing original condition. It's obvious that this rig was very well cared for, and it's nice to see the cloth versus vinyl upholstery. As we said, this S-10 Blazer is loaded; highlights include A/C, power windows and door locks, and the original AM/FM/Cassette audio system with the graphic equalizer. Under the hood, rather than a small V6 you'll now find a burly "LM4" 5.3-liter V8. Also known as the "Vortec 5300", this powerhouse was produced from 2003 to 2005 for GM's full-size pickups and was rated at 290/300 HP (depending on application). In other words, more than double what you'd normally find in a 1988 S-10 Blazer with the common 2.8-liter V6. The V8 sends the power to the rear wheels via a 4-speed automatic transmission. Out on the road, this handsome little Blazer runs smooth and strong, and thanks to its dual exhaust (including high-flow cats) it sounds great doing so. This is probably the best bang for the buck you'll find if you're looking for a nice restomod that's a blast to drive and easy to afford.
