Named for Malibu, California, the
Malibu name has had a distinct history that began in 1963 and
continued for nearly 20 years. Following a thirteen-year break,
the
Chevy
Malibu name once again appeared in 1996, and again in 2003 as
the latest generation was presented. Plain exterior, stock
appearance with steel style wheels with poverty hub caps.
Looking under the hood of this little ride would impress all
gear heads. A rebuilt 400 small block, forged steel crank,
forged pistons, Edelbrock plum heads resurfaced and
reconditioned, special grinded Lunati cam, solid lifter
cam, roller tip rockers, double roller timing chain, high volume
oil pump, Moroso 7 qt. oil pan. Light weight connecting
rids, Accel high energy HEI ignition, Hooker competition
headers, Victor JR. alum intake, 780 Holley dual pumper carb.,
with a very rare cowl plenum air induction air cleaner element
used SCCA Trans AM racing back in the late 60s. Chevy
bowtie alum racing valve covers, fuel pressure regulator,
Hamburgers ultra lite high torque starter. Griffin alum
radiator, auto meter shift lite tach, rev limiter with several
RPM chips. The motor has all the receipts and specs of the
engine and a Dyno test sheet.
442hp@5500RPM
with 458 lbs of torque, also, in the trunk there is a Holley
high volume electric fuel pump and Fram fuel filter canister.
Beautifully restored, this 64 Malibu is also equipped with an
M-21 close ratio Muncie trans., drive shaft loop, 12 bolt Posi
with 4.10 gear ratio F-41 rear sway bar, HD rear trailing arm by
Performance engineering. Up front has manual steering,
manual FDB, HD front sway bar. Built for true performance,
this Bad Bowtie has a fantastic body, straight as an arrow, high
gloss factory Ermine white with high attention to detail.
Bright work, stainless, trim, glass emblem are all in excellent
condition. One small scratch from age on the right rear
quarter, but barely noticeable. Solid orig. front fenders
and door bottoms, both full rear quarters are new, orig. floors,
trunk pan, solid undercarriage, frame, HD shocks, independant
coil
springs, air shocks sump gas tank with aero fittings and braided
fuel lines. Fiberglass light weight hood with the orig.
hood off to the side, in perfect shape. Super nice
interior and completely restored. Factory red bench seat,
new carpet, seat covers, seat foam, door panels, padded dash,
orig. white headliner, radio delete. The instrument
cluster has the factory center tach in the dash, also, auto
meter tach 3 pod chrome after market gauges neatly installed
under the dash. Correct bench seat shifter with reverse
T-handle lock out. Drivers side racing seat belt, factory
correct red seat belts on passenger side and rear seat.
Sport 2 spoke wood grain steering wheel. GM rubber floor
mats. Everything works, both tachometers, speedo, horn,
heater, wipers and all interior lights. Clean as a
whistle, great performance and lots of eye appeal, not to
mention the power...enough to sink you back in your seat, and
put a smile on your face! |
