Check out this entry level mid year Corvette roadster.
According to the owner history, this roadster was originally a
427/390 big block, factory Rally red with black standard
interior. Drag raced back in the day, the original 427 was
blown up and replaced with a 68 327/300hp motor. 202
Fuelie heads, stock intake, Quadra Jet carb., factory exhaust
manifolds, vacuum advance point dist. taken from a 68 Corvette.
Orig. style chrome valve covers, dist. shielding. The car
has manual steering, manual brakes, big block radiator and
radiator support. Nice clean orig. nose with all the orig.
bonding strips. The motor runs excellent, no smoke or engine
valve trans. noise. Engine cast #3914678 dated L-12-7.
Aftermarket Edelbrock air cleaner element, motor needs engine
detailing, just in need of Chev. Orange paint, no excessive oil
or grime. The exterior paint is factory color code 974
Rally Red. Refinished older lacquer paint that shows well,
with no spider cracks and considered driver quality.
Straight body lines, no waves in the fiberglass, nicely closing
doors, rear quarters have been cut away above body line seam,
for wide running tires, which is very common. Impala tail
lights, and a 3rd light was added , also, very common back in
the day. 66 big block hood. Above average
chrome front and rear bumpers, new rear power antenna, 67 Rally
wheels with WSW radial tires. Totally original glass,
including the windshield. Nice original front grille,
driver quality bright work and stainless trim. Headlights
work great. Un restored orig. interior, except the carpet
is new. Seat covers, door panels, window felts, cluster
gauges, 80lb oil pressure gauge, clock is inoperative., am/fm
that plays, factory seat belts, new repro walnut steering wheel.
Hurst competition sifter with white shift ball. New black
convertible top, new weather strip, detailed door jambs with
orig. sill plates. The tach needle has fallen off the face
gauge, fixable. Not sure if the tachometer is working at
this time. The under carriage, frame floors and bird cage
all in good condition. Minor scale to the frame but very
solid. New rear trailing arm bushings, new exhaust, 4 new
KYB shocks, new front and rear springs, lower trailing arm
bushings, front sway bar bushings. All new U-joints big
block rear end and drive shaft hardware, orig. spare tire
carrier w/spare and jack in place. Truly, all the signs of
a true big block roadster. The performance and handling is
simply terrific for this entry level mid year, nice paint,
chrome. If you're looking for a nice driver, check this
one out. If you're the purist wanting the correct
427/390 motor and fix the rear quarters and tail section, this
would be a good winter project. Either way, this car has
eye appeal with lots of potential. Affordable and fun.
