Here comes an interesting auto you don't see every day, or in
this condition! This 1956 Mercury was purchased from a
private collection, (mainly Fords). Beautifully restored from
the ground up, powered by a 312 V8, that is completely stock, 4
barrel carb. Equipped with power steering, power brakes,
with a 2 speed Merc-O-Matic transmission. Enjoyably driven
to local cars shows and cruise nights. Exceptionally clean
body and paint with straight body lines. Proper alignment
of doors, hood and trunk lid, easily closed with one finger on
these solid heavy doors. Show quality chrome bumpers
and bumper guards. Perfect emblems, hood ornament, front
grille, rear trunk emblem, tail light bezels and lenses.
Brilliant bright work with a body that is as straight as
an arrow. Adorned with a lot of stainless trim makes this
gem incredibly eye appealing. Rear quarter chip guards and
fender skirts eloquently signifies a day gone by.
Completely factory tinted glass that is all in exceptional
condition. Replacement windshield with the correct trico
wiper blades. Effortless work to roll all 4 windows up and
down. Notice the dual fenders, mounted side mirrors and
the 15" wide white radials with the orig. factory wheels and hub
caps. Taking a close look at the exterior of this fine
example, you'll be very impressed. No scratches, dings,
dents or issues in the paint. Tasteful and elegant would
describe the interior. Impressive color combo, black and
white bench seat with gold piping. Once again, exceptional
bright work, chrome, dash cluster and instruments, all
completely restored to the highest standards...museum quality.
Town and Country radio with FM converter added. Complete
new seat covers, door panels, carpet, white headliner, padded
dash, working clock that was quartzed during restoration.
Notice the beautiful white steering wheel, completely restored.
Mercury's are very collectible, especially in the collector car
world. Under the hood of this beauty is completely stock.
Mercury's engines having 9.0:1 compression ratios are engineered
to operate smoothly and efficiently. Also, it has an
automatic choke and an automatic fast idle control to provide
quick starting and smooth operation during warm up.
Mercury's first year, the 12 volt system makes starting quicker
and easier than ever. Notice the orig. glass windshield
washer jar, factory radiator with a new factory style battery.
Driving this car is a real pleasure and gets two thumbs up!
Smooth shifting Merc-O-Matic transmission gives the true feeling
of how the car performs when accelerating. The underside
is very impressive. Tight front end components. This 56 seemed to have spent
most of it's life in Arizona's dry climate, according to the
previous owner. New rear main seal, u-joints, idler
bushings, rear pinion seal, recent transmission service, new
dual exhaust with thrust mufflers, 2 new motor mounts.
Orig. Carter 4 barrel carb was overhauled in 07. The trunk
has the orig. spare tire, jack assembly and trunk liner, all
restored to excellent condition. Comes with orig. Owner's
manual and AZ Title. This is a true time piece.
Handsomely equipped, you'll be impressed with not only looks,
but how well it drives. |
