Riding in style with this 1940 Road king. A salesman's
dream car with all the extra storage and luxury interior made
being on the road anything but Ho Hum. This 1940 Plymouth
P9 Road king coupe was originally from Efland NC. The body
is very solid, orig. floor braces and floor pans. Solid X
frame with no signs of rust or repairs. Solid front and
rear fenders, chip guards on front of back fenders are missing.
Vehicles with no running boards had this option to protect the
fenders from chipping the paint. Rebuilt from front to
back, this 5 window business coupe has a new Labarron Bonney
interior. Restored instrument cluster and gauges against
imitation wood veneer applique. Brilliant coach work on
the inside of this pre-war business man's coupe. New seat
cushions, covers, door panels, carpet, headliner and rear window
shelf. All beautifully restored to original condition.
Original door hardware, all the glass is in exceptional
condition, new weather strip, windows roll up and down with
minimal effort. Split windshield that has been replaced
with all new window gaskets, functional cowl vent with new
screen and and gasket seal for cabin fresh air ventilation.
All the dash knobs are restored, orig. restored steering wheel
with no cracks. 6 volt system with not a lot of frills.
Pull the choke, pump it twice and hit the starter button on the
floor....Varrrooom! Purrs like a kitten. Stock
suspension, hudraulic brakes, factory style wide bias ply tires
with Plymouth hub caps. Under the hood is a straight
flathead 6 cyl. 201.3 cu.in. L head engine that delivers
84hp, 3 spd manual trams, that shifts smooth as can be.
Also, notice the dual horns, and they work great! under this
hood is as original as can be.. Mechanically, the car runs
very good, nice quiet smooth running engine with new single
exhaust. Brilliant front end bright work and chrome.
Amber running lights, headlight bezels have a restored chrome
finish to the pot metal. Only a few minor chip in the
exterior finish, appears to be refinished in lacquer with only a
few minor flaws noticed overall. A super nice driving
quality car with lots of style. |
