Have you ever owned a car that
caused your pulse to quicken by just walking up to it?
Well that's exactly what happens
when you approach this fine example of the
approximately 1935 Plymouth Superbirds produced by Chrysler
Corporation specifically for the 1970 Nascar
Season. As well as this being their successful attempt at
winning back Richard Petty. While in this
instance a change from the original Alpine White to the High
Impact Limelight Green was chosen during the restoration,
most agree the color turns this 'Bird from a head turner
into a neck snapper! Twisting the key and feeling the
rumble of the waiting 375 horses is not diminished one bit
by the fact a NOM (Correctly Date Coded) 440 4bbl. occupies
the nicely detailed engine compartment, very impressive with
receipts of the overhaul. Rotisserie restored, this bird was completely
disassembled and stripped down to the bare metal, hood,
doors, fenders and deck lid. The original nose cone
was removed as well as the rear wing. Approximately 1500 miles since completion.
Only the trunk pan required replacement when
restoration was underway 2005. The color change
was a major project, but see for yourself, the result is
beautiful with high impact straight body lines to the fit
and finish. Remember, these cars were built and fitted
by hand right off the assembly line. Now imagine yourself
pulling out of your driveway on a sunny day in this
car...how do the words "center of attention" sound?
Once out on the highway you've got those 15" Rallye Wheels
rolling, the 3:23 posi rear end pushing you along, as you
settle into the beautiful black bucket seat interior...
...something in the mirror
catches your eye quickly fading in the distance. Was it the
Coyote?
Long time Wing car Owners
interested in another 'Bird will be impressed with the fit
and finish of this Superbird. All new weather strip,
excellent glass, great fit to doors, hood and trunk lid.
New interior from Legendary. Restored gauges,
everything works... switches, working original AM radio, correct seat belts that
are original and near perfect condition, new headliner, replacement windshield. If you are contemplating your
1st Wing car purchase, this could be your best choice into
this exciting yet limited fraternity. While when new
many of these outrageous vehicles sat unsold on dealers
lots, today, the same cannot be said. These cars are
holding steady and are once again ready to "take off" in
value. Here is one, in reach, that will only appreciate in
value in the future. Considered a #2 condition car.
