In 2004, Pontiac took a car chassis from
GMs Australian division, added distinctive nose and tail
treatments, and then dropped in a GM 5.7 liter LS-1 motor from
the corvette. They then resurrected the famed GTO name for this
Americanized car. With great handling, comfortable interior, and
impressive acceleration, this new GTO was favorably compared to
European cars of the same category, but with a more realistic
price tag. In 2005, Pontiac upped the anti by dropping the new
all aluminum LS-2 6.0 liter v8 between the fenders. With 400
rated HP and 400 lb-ft of torque, the car became even more
impressive. And it could still pull down 25MPG on the highway.
Wow! This particular example is a one owner low mileage
model in Black metallic with a Charcoal leather interior. It has
a smooth shifting 6 Speed Tremec manual transmission and a 3.46
posi rear. 4 wheel antilock disc brakes and 4 wheel independent
suspension round out the driveline. Other features include
cruise, A/C, Power windows, locks and mirrors, 6 way power
seats, 6 disc Blaupunkt radio with subwoofer, steering wheel
audio controls, full analog gauges with red faces and a driver
information center with programmable features such as speed
warning, and different digital gauge arrangements. Also present
is traction control with a defeat button. There are 4 new tires
on the factory 17 inch alloy rims. This GTO has always been
garaged and not driven in salt. The interior is like new; the
exterior is excellent with only a couple of paint chips noticed.
This car drives like the modern GTO it is! Though completely
stock, turning the key produces a throaty rumble. Get the car
rolling and you will not fail to be impressed with the power
available to your right foot. The brakes are strong and
predictable and the handling is precise. Cruising on the highway
is smooth and comfortable. If you are looking for a late model
performance car, this is the vehicle you have been looking for!
