This 1964 Pontiac GTO is a CA car built the 4th week of March
1964. Until it was sold in 2010, this car was one family
owned and always garaged. This fine example has a
beautiful original body, completely original sheet metal, single
repaint in 1996, #'s matching 389 Tri-power 78x code,
factory 4 barrel dealer installed Tri-power set up. A
woman in her late 40's ordered the car with the Tri-power that
was a special order car, however when the car came in, it was a
4 barrel). The dealer then installed the Tri-power
that was originally ordered. The motor
was rebuilt during the same time frame as the repaint. .060
thousands over, approx. 15k miles on the rebuilt, 4 spd Muncie,
Saf-T-Trac Posi rear. (Receipts of the overhaul).
The second owner was a family friend that had wanted to buy the
car since 1985 when it arrived to NH by train and he was only
16! It took 25 years, but he did buy the car. The
original owner was forced to sell it due to keeping up with
maintaining the car. it had been stored in a worn out
garage where the car had not run in a decade. Very
interesting to have complete owner history on this fine example.
Vibrant Marimba Red exterior finish that looks extremely
straight, no waves in the orig. body, no patch panels or body
filler. Pictures demonstrate when the car was stripped
down to bare metal. Rear quarter panels that are as
straight as you'll ever find. Proper aligning doors,
hood and trunk lid. The orig. bumpers were re chromed
approx. 10 yrs. ago and still look like new. Perfect orig.
grille and headlight bezels, headlight shades, orig. hood
inserts, scoops and pot metal is considered in excellent
condition. Bright work, stainless, trim, emblems, wheel
opening mouldings and rocker mouldings are original with
no dings, dents or scratches. Orig. 14" 64 spinner caps
are absolutely stunning. New P205/75R14" WSW radial tires.
Options are as follows: GTO pkg, 4 spd, PS, manual brakes,
buckets, center console with rare vacuum gages, shaded
windshield, am radio, actually works. Rare orig. walnut 4
spoke sport steering wheel in fantastic condition with no cracks
or flaws, HD cooling pkg., back up lights, exhaust splitters and
a Saf-T-Trac rear. Spotless trunk, spare tire, jack, new
repro trunk mat. No moisture, no repairs to the entire
trunk area, 1964 was the last year Pontiac painted the trunk
area the same color as the body. The only modification
under the hood is the chrome alternator and hood pins. The
engine compartment is nicely detailed. Correct style hose
and clamps, HD shroud with clutch fan. Rochester 2 barrel carbs
with orig. alum triangle ID tags. orig. inner fenders with
orig. sweeps with staples still in place. No worn, dried
or cracked chrome valve covers, H. O. manifolds, dual stainless
exhaust, OEM style mufflers. The under carriage is rock
solid, orig. floor pans, no under coating. Smooth frame,
no rust or scale, never refinished or detailed. Rear trunk
mounts with no evidence of any rust or repair. F41 sway
bar, new springs, new shocks and sway bar links. Nice
tight front end, reconditioned orig. gas tank, factory spot
welds on the bottom of the lower rear quarter, inner lower
quarter extensions are super nice. The interior on this 64
GTO has beautiful orig. door panels, orig. headliner, in perfect
shape. The seats have new seat foam and covers, front and
rear, brushed alum dash applique is super nice, not tarnished or
scratched, and no cracks in the dash. New glove box liner,
dash pot metal is also really nice. orig. console with
pitting, nice chrome, factory vacuum gage, factory Rally dash,
everything works, tach, vac gauge, lights, horn, heater,
radio, back up lights, factory optional seat belts, Pontiac
rubber floor mats, orig. Fisher sill plates. Recent
weather strip and window felt kit. orig. glass, except
replacement windshield. Now, how this car performs with
the Tri-power set up, is awesome! No hesitation, drives
down the road nice and straight, go ahead...let go of the wheel,
it drives straight! The motor runs extremely well, shifts
smoothly with plenty of power to spark the tires! Not just any
old goat! A great example of a sorted car that has been
preserved and verified as a #'s matching car with PHS docs, 3
in. stack of receipts, compete owner history and stories to
tell. Simply, this car is awesome! The
last 64 GTO we sold was to a customer in Detroit MI. It
was black on black Tri-power, 4 spd, with 19k miles...Hi Jim,
thanks! |
