This
rare find is barn fresh! Orig. block, 426 Street Wedge
car, rated at 365hp. Stored in a barn with a wooden floor
for the past 20 years. Original fender tag decodes this
car a real Street Wedge, 4 spd car. Repainted once, all
orig. sheet metal, minimal rust, un restored orig. interior
including the carpet. Heavy duty big brakes, and front sway bar.
Heavy duty alternator option, no PS, no PB, bucket seats with
console and factory tach. Orig. Hurst shifter.
No rust around the hood hinges or fender aprons. Minor
rust on driver's side floor pan, straight body with minimal body
work done during the repaint. Solid orig. trunk, rear
quarters, door bottoms and front fenders. Interesting life about this car. It was purchased from
it's original owner to actually tow his Air Stream trailer!
This Polara 500 was never at the drag races or hot rodded.
Most of the Street or Max Wedge cars didn't have the top level
trim 500 pkg. 1) because of the cost and 2) because of the
weight, which makes this car a very limited production car.
From Kentucky, it ended up in Fort Dodge Iowa for a number of
years to a well known Mopar collector. From there it ended
up in upstate NY, where it sat for 20 yrs. Sold for a farm
tractor, the 3rd owner shared its history with us. Such as
the A-833 orig. transmission and a 3.23 Sure Grip rear, also,
the trailer hitch was removed. Rated @ 365hp, it was more
like 395hp which NHRA indicate dead stock. This was the
car that dominated the street as stock performance. Early
B-body Chryslers won the Daytona 500 with Richard Petty behind
the wheel in the Max Wedge 64 models. Make no mistake,
this car blew the doors off the first true muscle car. The
1964 GTO, rated @ 325hp with a 4 barrel and 335hp with the
tri-power set up, 8 to 10 mph faster on the drag strip.
11" brakes, special front sway bars were only available on Wedge
cars. This one is so rare, we have never seen one.
426 Street Wedge, factory 4 spd., unrestored example that is
worth more than your 401k restored! Only 3 in the
registry, and this is one of them. |
