"Let the Good Times Roll!" This 1955 Pontiac Chieftain 2 door hardtop was purchased from a private collection in PA and was restored with love and passion by a husband and wife team who brought this antique back to its former cool 1950's custom glory. The Pontiac's charming two tone Sequoia Green over Valley Green exterior provides a sense of glamour that was indicative of the fabulous '50s. In addition to the eye-catching paint, the body's various chrome and stainless trim has been refurbished, including the triple plated chrome bumpers. Pontiac's then-trademark double chrome "Silver Streak" hood bands accent the hood, as does the original amber Indian-headed jet airplane (aircraft-inspired hood ornaments were all the rage in the '50s). The Indian head still lights up as it did when the car was new! Tasteful pinstriping adds a nice touch. Other '50s mild custom touches include dual dummy spotlights, fender skirts, dual side view mirrors, finger nail guards behind the chrome door handles and a Continental kit (bumper-mounted spare tire/wheel). There are even custom designed wheel covers from a '57 Cadillac with simulated knock-off spinners mounted on wide whitewall tires. The spacious trunk is rust-free and features color keyed carpeting as well as the original spare tire and wheel cover, the jack assembly and a car cover. Underneath the car you'll note factory under coating and a very solid under carriage. Hop inside and you'll see more proof of how much time and effort went into this primo Pontiac. The original steering wheel has been restored and sports the Indian Chieftain applique. The Pontiac still has its original AM radio, but there's also an updated radio in the glove box. A crisp white headliner accents the custom pleated upholstery with matching door panels while green piping provides a classy touch throughout, even on the back of the front seats and arm rests. The carpet and weather stripping are new as well. There are also some old school hot rod touches inside, such as a Sun Super Tach II neatly mounted on the steering column, a three gauge pod neatly installed under the dash, a Lokar shifter with a billet aluminum knob and Lokar brake and accelerator pedals. There's also an e-brake warning light that works. This Chieftain runs better than new thanks to an upgraded power train that provides performance a '55 could only dream of. Specifically, there's now an early '60s Pontiac 389 V8 matched to a TH400 automatic trans. The electrical system was changed to a 12 volt system and even the wipers were changed from vacuum to more reliable electric operation. This gem is an unbelievable cars and coffee, car show and cruise night car! The last owners enjoyed the car in that fashion, even winning multiple awards and making friends along the way.
