Among the C1 (Corvette, 1st generation) Corvettes that were produced from 1953-1962, the 1958 holds a special place among enthusiasts. It was the first year of the dual headlights and the only year for the simulated louvers on the hood and the chrome trunk accents (nicknamed “tusks”). Here we have a 1958 Corvette that’s been given the extremely popular restomod treatment. This full frame-off restomod must be seen and driven to be fully appreciated, as it combines the classic ’58 looks with modern running gear and luxury features. Included with the car is a flash drive showing the meticulous resto-modification of this beautiful Corvette. After the body was meticulously stripped and prepared, the car was given a high-quality respray in a classy charcoal blue with silver coves combination. No detail was left untouched, in addition to the lustrous re-chroming of bumpers and various body trim and the replacement of rubber parts, even the seat frames were refinished. The underside is so clean you could eat lasagna off it. Inside, the seats were reupholstered in the correct pattern and everything looks and functions as new. Upgrades include a modern audio system with Bluetooth capability as well as a “Vintage Air” fully-integrated air conditioning system. The steering wheel is smaller in diameter than originally, making for easier entry and exit and providing more leg space for larger drivers. Putting out at least 100 more horsepower than the original 283 V8 made, a GM Performance Parts 350 crate motor now sits under the hood. With its Holley carburetor, aluminum GMPP intake, performance camshaft and set of headers, the small block pours out big power while a “Be Cool” radiator keeps it running cool. The power runs through a four-speed Muncie M-21 and on to a 3.08-geared Dana 40 rear end. The suspension, brakes and steering have all been updated as well. Fitted with C6 Corvette suspension components, Wilwood power four-wheel-disc brakes and power rack-and-pinion steering, this classic ’58 sports the athletic handling, braking and steering performance of a more modern Corvette. A set of 17-inch alloy wheels wearing high-performance Nitto radials finishes off the comprehensive list of tasteful upgrades. With only 1,060 miles added since its incredible, no-expense-spared restomod treatment, this 1958 Corvette must be seen to be believed.
