** MORE PHOTOS TO COME ** Among the C1 (Corvette, 1st generation) Corvettes that were produced from 1953-1962, the 1958 holds a special place among enthusiasts. It was the first year of the dual headlights and the only year for the ridges in the hood and chrome accents (nicknamed “tusks”) on the trunk lid. Here we have a 1958 Corvette barn find that was stored for decades. After we got the car we put it through our shop and refurbished whatever was needed to make this classic once again road worthy and a pleasure to drive. The body appears to be all original (the bonding strips are still intact, for example) and accident free apart from a minor mishap seen on the front valence panel. The Silver Blue with White Coves color scheme is an older repaint that is still looks good and the various chrome trim pieces are good to excellent, with some (such as the bumpers) appearing to have been re-chromed, given their brilliant shine. A new set of period-correct wide-whitewall tires fitted with the correct wheel covers add the perfect exclamation point to the car’s curbside appeal. Inside, the seat covers and door panels are in good shape, the carpet appears to have been replaced with a more modern style and the dash pad needs to be repaired or replaced. The original “Wonderbar” radio still resides in the center stack while the doors open and shut with a satisfying click, lending credence to this being an honest and original C1. Under the washboard hood this Corvette originally sported the rare 283/270-horse V8 with dual quads. Now it houses an NOM 283 4-barrel V8 that runs smooth and strong thanks to a rebuilt Carter carb and flushed out fuel system, including the tank. The Muncie 4-speed shifts smoothly and overall the Corvette runs great. The suspension and brakes were rebuilt as needed (new king pins, tie rod ends, wheel cylinders, brake lines) and as such the car also handles and brakes very well. Overall, this 1958 Corvette would make for a fun driver that the owner could simply enjoy as is or take to the next level with a restoration.
