Description

** THIS VEHICLE IS GOING TO THE OWL'S HEAD CAR MUSEUM AUCTION WHICH IS AUGUST 26TH ** In 1957, Ford debuted a car that combined the quiet ride and security of a hardtop coupe with the open air thrill of a full convertible. That car was the Fairlane 500 Skyliner retractable hardtop convertible. A press of a button would set the top in motion, where it would disappear under the rear decklid. Partway into the 1959 model year, the even fancier, top-of-the-line Galaxie version debuted. Here we have a 1959 Ford Fairlane 500 Galaxie Skyliner that must be seen to be believed. This beautiful car underwent a stunning frame-off restoration. The end result will thrill its passengers on a sunny top-down cruise as well as gather plenty of compliments at your local Cars and Coffee. The arrow-straight and rock-solid body was given a high-quality respray in the correct Indian Turquoise hue, which is nicely complemented by the white retractable hardtop as well as the various chrome and stainless-steel trim that gleams as brightly as the paint. A set of wide whitewall tires wearing factory-correct wheel covers complete the incredible curb appeal of this rare car. Inside, the tri-tone interior is pristine and factory-correct down to the signal-seeking "Town and Country" radio and two-tone steering wheel. Unlike some convertibles, the rear seat is full-width, allowing plenty of room for friends and family to enjoy the ride. Under the hood, the original and optional 352 V8 resides, sending its ample power to the rear wheels via a 3-speed "Cruise-O-Matic" automatic transmission. Power steering and power brakes further add to the effortless and smooth driving experience of this flagship convertible . Given its amazing condition, rarity and massive fun-to-drive factor, we predict that this car will be one of the big stars of the Owl's Head auction on August 26th. Don't miss this rare opportunity to acquire one of the coolest cars of the late '50s!
