Here's something you won't see at your local Cars and Coffee! This 1959 Willys Jeep Surrey Gala is one of only 50 remaining of about 1,100 produced, and is just as fun as it looks. Aimed at small businesses, high-end resorts and country clubs, this Surrey Gala recently underwent a high-end restoration that must be seen in person. The two-tone Pink and Coral pain scheme looks amazing and is nicely accented by the factory Willys wheel covers and wide-whitewall tires. The Jeep is so pristine underneath that it easily earns our "Lasagna car" designation, meaning we would gladly eat our Sunday pasta off of the underside. It features a fringe top which is called a Surrey top, hence the name. The Gala part of the name comes from the head-turning color scheme inside and out. The top is striped as is the spare tire cover and interior. The overall vibe is so cheerful that it makes it hard not to smile when you approach the Jeep and climb in. There's no radio here, as we imagine the fun-loving passengers would be chatting it up and enjoying the warm breeze so much that a radio wouldn't be missed at all. The bulletproof inline four fires right up and sends its power to the rear wheels (these were all rear-wheel drive) via a column-shifted 3-speed manual, or what we used to call "3-on-the-tree" transmission. Steering and brakes are both manual, but with a length of only 136 inches and a weight of less than 2,000 pounds, it's still a breeze to wheel around this little Jeep. Here's proof that you don't need a lot of horsepower to have a lot of fun!
