Here we have a time capsule example of a 1960 Biscayne 2-door. This is an all-original car with only 20,420 miles on it. The only thing on this car that wasn’t there during the Kennedy administration is the set of tires. Back in 1984 plastic seat covers were installed to preserve the upholstery. The owners back then evidently recognized how special the car was given its amazing original condition at 24 years old. And now, nearly four decades after that, it’s still in amazing condition. The car's documentation even includes the original bill of sale indicating that $2,000 purchase price. Take a close look at the body and you’ll notice it’s rock solid, arrow straight and sports chrome and stainless-steel trim that still gleams brightly. The original paint may not be quite as shiny as when new, but it’s still in impressive overall condition for a finish that’s 63 years old. Inside, the seats are in incredible condition thanks to caring owners, the low mileage and the custom protective clear covers. The dash, door panels and vinyl floor covering (no carpet for the Biscayne) are all in excellent shape with only the headliner having some age-related yellowing. Under the hood the tried-and-true inline six is as dependable as an anvil and runs smoothly. It fires up quickly and purrs whether idling or underway. Manual steering and brakes are typical of base trim levels back then, as is the “3-on-the-tree” manual transmission. But all that unfiltered interaction between car and driver makes it surprisingly fun to wheel around town while out on the highway it cruises quietly at higher speeds.
