Representing the second to the last year of the "C1" the 1961 Corvette is special for a few reasons. That year marked the last for the 283 V8 in a Corvette, a peppy performer that was known for punching well above its weight. It also marked the last year of the available contrasting bodyside "coves" which were outlined in chrome and painted Silver or White to contrast with the car's main body color. Here we have a beautiful 1961 Corvette that boasts a meticulous and very fresh (less than 500 miles since) frame-off restoration. The eye-catching color scheme of Fawn Beige with White coves is hard to beat, and the paint as well as the various chrome and stainless steel components shine brilliantly. It's topped off with a color-matched hard top as well as a new soft top. A set of wide whitewall tires wearing correct "spinner" style wheel covers finish off the car's massive curb appeal. Underneath, the Corvette is likewise impressive, with its natural fiberglass floors and satin black finished frame. The underside is so impressive that it earns our "Lasagna Car" designation, meaning it's so clean that we'd gladly eat our Sunday pasta off of it. Inside, it is all-new and immaculate, with everything from the dash pad to the upholstery and gauges on down to the carpet looking as if the car just drove out of 1961. The 'vette is equipped with the rare option of power windows and also features an updated "Wonderbar" radio that you can plug your phone into. The 6,500 rpm redline on the tach indicates that this Corvette packs an optional, high-horsepower version of the 283 V8. Raise the hood and you'll see that potent, numbers-matching 283, specifically the dual-quad version that also packs high compression heads and a solid-lifter cam. That feisty small block is paired up with a smooth-shifting, numbers-matching 4-speed manual gearbox that sends the power to the pavement via the numbers-matching 3.70-geared Positraction rear end. With everything being rebuilt/restored as needed, including the suspension and brakes, this classic Corvette runs and drives as good as it looks and it sounds awesome in the process. Well-sorted and looking like it just rolled out of the factory, this incredible C1 is ready to thrill its next owner, whether it be running up through the gears on the boulevard, going on a weekend cruise or gathering admiring looks and comments at the local Cars and Coffee. The icing on this Corvette cake is the AACA National Senior First Place award that the car won in 2014, a testament to its amazing condition and correctness. As stated before, the Corvette has seen minimal use since that amazing nut-and-bolt restoration and has been properly stored and maintained since, so it still presents incredibly well.
