Representing the last year of the "C1" (Corvette, 1st generation), the 1962 Corvette is special for a few other reasons. That year also marked the debut of the iconic 327 V8, which replaced the 283 and offered even stronger performance than its well respected predecessor. The styling was also refined as it was now monochromatic and more cohesive with the de-chromed character lines on the front fenders and doors now matching those on the rear quarters. Here we have a beautiful, frame-off restored 1962 Corvette that likely checks most, if not all, of the boxes for a last-year C1 enthusiast. Look closely at the body and you'll see Roman Red paint that looks a foot deep on the arrow-straight body. The chrome and stainless-steel trim are brilliant while the spinner-style wheel covers and period-correct, whitewall Firestone "Deluxe Champion" tires add the perfect finishing touch. Note that this is a "two top" car and of course, both the white soft top and the matching red hardtop are similarly nice. As expected, the underside is rock-solid and clean. Inside, everything from the dash to instruments to the door panels to the seats and carpet look as if you've gone back in time to a 1962 Chevrolet dealership's showroom. The "Wonderbar" signal-seeking radio is still in the dash and the red interior is a great match to the red exterior. Underneath that long hood, the 327 V8 is original and numbers matching. It’s also a very desirable specification, being the optional, high-performance 340-horsepower version. That powerhouse is matched to the original 4-speed manual gearbox that sends the power to a Positraction rear end. Out on the road this car is simply a blast. The spirited acceleration is accompanied by a rocking soundtrack; you almost expect the radio to start playing the Beach Boy's "Shutdown" as you run it through the gears. Handling and braking are similarly up to snuff. This amazing C1 is the ultimate in "Show and Go".
