Description

Midway through the 1963 model year, Ford decided to put some pep into the Falcon’s step so for 1963 ½, Ford’s compact could be had with the “Sprint” option, giving it V8 power for the first time. Available in coupe and convertible form, the Sprint came with a 260 2-barrel V8 coupled to a 3-speed manual (a 4-speed was optional), wire wheel covers, V8 emblems, chrome valve covers/air cleaner, bucket seats, a simulated wood rim steering wheel, and a dashtop-mounted tach. Here we have a beautifully restored Falcon Sprint convertible that features the 4-speed stick as well as plenty of other options, such as the center console, that add to the fun. Only 4,602 Falcon Sprint convertibles were produced by the end of the ’63 model year, and of those supposedly only around 200 had the optional 4-speed (though this number can’t be confirmed). In any event, this is a rare and feisty Falcon. This Falcon Sprint boasts a sharp Peacock blue color accented with a white convertible top. The car boasts a rock-solid and arrow-straight body while the various brightwork, including the grille and fender badges, is likewise impressive. The factory-issued simulated knock-off wire wheel covers add an exclamation point to this handsome statement made by this mini muscle car. Inside, it’s all factory correct as well, and everything from the convertible top down to the carpet is in excellent condition. The two-tone upholstery and the simulated wood wheel look fantastic, and the original AM radio still resides (and works) in the dash. Note that the dashtop tach in currently not working. Under the hood, the 260 V8 has been upgraded with a four-barrel carburetor and intake, providing more kick when you want this Falcon to fly. The dual exhaust with its chrome tips provides a powerful but not obnoxious soundtrack whether the Sprint is idling or…sprinting. The suspension and brake systems were gone through during the restoration, and as a result the Falcon runs and drives great, with the four-speed adding to the fun factor. With an AACA Senior First Place award proudly displayed on its grille, this rare Falcon Sprint drop top is one of the best you’ll ever see. It also comes with plenty of extra parts (see photo of parts list). For more information or to schedule time to see this fun-loving Falcon, just give us a call at 603-627-5595. Financing is offered through our approved lender, interesting trades are welcome and open or enclosed shipping can be arranged.
