Description

For many classic Corvette fans, the C2 (or "Mid-year") which ran from 1963 through 1967, is the greatest generation. And within that generation -- apart from the '63 Split-window coupe -- the years from 1965 to 1967 are considered the C2's best. The reason is their considerably stronger braking performance, thanks to their four-wheel disc brakes (versus drums on the '63s and '64s). On offer here is one of those coveted Corvettes -- a 1965 roadster whose most recent owner has had the car since 2004. Originally Ermine White (as per the trim tag), the car was given an amateur paint job a long time ago to its present medium blue color. The paint is the only weak point of this car, as it has dulled and shows wear. That said, it covers an arrow-straight, no-hit body and the underside is rock-solid as well. Real knock-off wheels and the factory side exhaust add considerably to the cool factor of this classic 'vette. The interior, with its optional leather seating, looks fantastic in its original color of blue while the door panels and dash likewise are in impressive condition. Other factory options on this car include an AM/FM radio and the somewhat rare power windows. Note that the tach appears to have the 6,000 rpm redline, which indicates that this car likely had the optional 350-horsepower version of the 327 V8 when new. Under the hood now resides a 1969-1970 vintage (peak horsepower years) 350 4-barrel V8 with 4 bolt mains. That powerhouse sends the horses to the 3.55-geared Positraction rear end through an M20 4-speed manual gearbox. Both the suspension and the four-wheel disc brakes have rebuilt as needed. Manual steering and power brakes round out the Corvette's mechanical specs. This Corvette runs, drives, handles and brakes very well and is simply a blast to drive, with that four-speed stick as well as the side exhaust singing the high-performance song of the car's spirited 350. All in all, this is a very nice driver at a very attractive price that could be enjoyed as is or taken to the next level with a respray in its original color. Please call Carroll Street Auto at (603) 627-5595 for further information or to schedule time to view this iconic Corvette. Financing is offered through our approved lender, trades are considered, and enclosed shipping can be arranged.
