We get a lot of mid-year (1963-1967) Corvette roadsters here at Carroll Street. We love these cars and so do many of our customers. For most enthusiasts, the preferred ones are ’65s to ‘67s, as they came with four-wheel disc brakes as opposed to drums on the earlier cars. This sharp 1966 Corvette Roadster is a nice example of a mid-year roadster that you can be proud to own, show at your local Cars and Coffee events and enjoy driving without breaking the bank. The handsome white body with red interior color combination calls to mind the first Corvettes, which could only be had in that color scheme. Look up close and you’ll notice very straight body panels with even panel gaps. You'll also notice the doors close precisely with just a finger's touch. This Corvette was given an older single respray in its original Ermine White hue that's still presentable apart from some flat areas on the hood. The various chrome (including the bumpers) and stainless-steel trim look nice and the side exhaust looks and sounds fantastic. The black convertible top was replaced back in 1982 and is still in very presentable condition. The car's "bird cage" and the rest of its underside is clean and rock solid. Correct "knock-off" style wheel covers fitted with radial white wall tires finish off the curb appeal of this classic Corvette. The cargo compartment still contains the jack assembly. Hop in behind the simulated walnut wheel and although the interior could use a good detailing, overall it's in very nice condition for being original. The seats, dash and carpet are in good shape, as is the steering wheel (no cracks). Options include AM/FM radio with power antenna (both work fine) and power steering. There is also an upgraded, modern sound system with satellite radio and Bluetooth capabilities. All the gauges except for the clock (very common) work. Under the hood is the original, numbers-matching 300 horsepower 327 V8 (a previous owner put a "350" hp sticker on the air cleaner) that’s matched to the correct Muncie M21 close-ratio 4-speed gearbox and 3.36-geared rear end. That rumbling exhaust provides a perfect ‘60s soundtrack without being obnoxious. Power steering and manual disc brakes add to the enjoyment of wheeling this iconic roadster around. Overall, we’d rate this Corvette as a nice, well-priced, driver-quality car. For more information or to schedule time to see this sharp Corvette, just give us a call at 603-627-5595.
