1968 Ford Mustang

For many classic Mustang enthusiasts, the '67-'68 is the one to have. A more muscular version of the original, these Mustangs boasted beefier styling as well as more potent engine options and a greater array of luxury options. Indeed, a '68 fastback was the car of choice for Steve McQueen in the movie "Bullitt". Stunning in a high-quality respray in its original Brittany Blue, this 1968 Mustang convertible we have on offer makes a strong impression. Originally a California car, it had the same local owner for the past 27 years and has been off the road but properly stored since 2006. It has been pampered since it rolled out of the showroom back when the Beatle's White Album debuted, and as a result this Mustang boasts an impressively solid underside and body panels. Indeed, it still wears all its original sheet metal apart from its right rear quarter panel which was replaced with a genuine Ford factory quarter after the car had a minor fender bender many years ago. The body is arrow straight and its panel gaps are even, while the doors click shut with just a light touch. The bumpers and other chrome/stainless-steel trim all shine brilliantly while a set of Shelby Mustang 10-spoke wheels fitted with white-lettered radials tires finish off the considerable curb appeal of this classic 'stang. A brand new white convertible top with the glass rear window was just installed while the car was in our shop getting checked out and serviced from top to bottom. Inside, the fully restored, factory two-tone Dark Blue/Light Blue upholstery looks fantastic, as do the dash, door panels and carpet. Note that there is an aftermarket steering wheel but the original goes with the car, as do the original wheels/wheel covers and AM radio. There is also an AM/FM/Cassette audio system. Under the hood is the original "C" code 289 2-barrel V8 which sends the power to the rear wheels via Ford's C4 automatic transmission. The 289 starts and runs great, and provides plenty of power for this pony while power steering makes it easy to wheel around this classic cruiser. Note that the engine will be detailed while the car is getting serviced in our shop. The odometer shows 74,149 miles and given the car's history, extensive documentation and the way it runs, we believe that to be accurate. A binder packed full of service receipts and other documentation (including the warranty service card, sales brochure, owner's manuals and purchase order) accompanies the car and shows that it was very well cared for from day one.
