Coupling that handsome, one-year-only styling with the high-winding 302 cubic-inch V8 was a marriage made in car guy heaven. Bred to participate in American sports car racing, such as the Trans Am series where it enjoyed great success, the Z/28 came equipped with that potent 302 along with firmer suspension calibrations and was only available with a four-speed stick. The pristine example you see here proudly wears Daytona Yellow paint with black Z/28 stripes. Paint and body were first restored in 1990-91. Although still very presentable nearly 30 years later, the Z/28 was just stripped to bare metal and given an incredible, high-end repaint this year by its former owner, a body shop owner and perfectionist. That arrow straight and rock-solid body and underside underscores the high quality of the body restoration, during which only genuine GM sheet metal components were used. The engine bay and undercarriage were both freshened up in 2015. The black interior retains the original seats and and dash while the door panels and carpet were replaced to further the impression that this car jumped out of the 1969 Camaro brochure. Ready to provide plenty of thrills accompanied by a late-'60s rocking soundtrack, the original, matching numbers (block, heads, intake) “DZ” 302 V8 was rebuilt in 1998. At that time a high-performance “off road” Z/28 camshaft was installed and the engine has had minimal miles added since. That powerhouse starts, idles and runs great, while the Muncie M21 4-speed (rebuilt in 2010) shifts smoothly and sends the power to the original, 3.73-geared Positraction rear end. The power front disc brakes still employ the original rotors and the quick-ratio power steering is likewise original to the car. F41 quick ratio steering all 100% correct with orig. Pitman arm for 69 Z28. Disc brake rotors are all orig. 2 piece rotors for the car indicating low mileage. Under dash wiring harness, rear tail light harness, all original & in excellent condition.
