Description

Representing one of the most stylish and powerful years of Pontiac’s midsize lineup, the 1969 Pontiac Custom S was slotted just below the sporty LeMans and just above the entry-level Tempest. As with its siblings (which of course included the GTO), a wide, split grille and handsome body lines gave the Custom S a sporty look that made rivals from Ford, Plymouth and even a few of its GM sister divisions look dowdy in comparison. The 1969 Custom S we have here spent most of its life in sunny Florida, eventually moving up to Camden, Maine for use as a summer home car. The car was always well-maintained and garaged and as such the underside is rock solid. Back in 2012 the Pontiac underwent a cosmetic and mechanical restoration. The straight and solid body was refinished in gleaming white which contrasts nicely with the black convertible top (with its glass, not plastic rear window) and black vinyl interior. The seats were reupholstered and the whole interior looks great. A Pioneer AM/FM/Cassette audio system is ready to play your favorites. Under the hood, the original 350 2-barrel V8 was rebuilt and it runs great. A smooth automatic transmission sends the power to the rear wheels. The engine was even repainted correct Pontiac blue when it was rebuilt, which along with the very clean engine compartment means you can raise the hood with pride after you park the Poncho at your local Cars and Coffee. In addition to top-down runs to the ice cream stand, you’ll probably also want to take the Custom S on some road trips, as the factory options include power steering, power brakes and air conditioning, making for a pleasant drive. Priced at less than half of what an equivalent-condition GTO convertible would sell for, this 1969 Custom S convertible offers similarly handsome styling and plenty of V8 performance, making for a solid value proposition. Financing is offered through our approved lender, interesting trades are welcome and enclosed shipping can be arranged.
