Description

Debuting for the 1970 Corvette, the “LT-1” engine option was a thriller in Chevrolet’s sports car. Cranking out a stout 370 horsepower, the high-winding 350 cubic-inch powerhouse drew rave reviews. With a solid-lifter, aggressive spec camshaft, this engine really came alive at higher rpm. At nearly $500, the LT-1 option was considerably more expensive than the LS-5 454 option (at around $300). As such, a C3 with the LT-1 is somewhat rare. On offer here is one of those revered 1970 LT-1 Corvettes. This one sports its original numbers-matching powertrain and wears its correct color of Donnybrooke Green. This is a "two top" car, meaning it comes with the original matching hardtop along with the convertible top. The Corvette's body is arrow straight and the paint appears to be mostly original and presents as nice driver quality while the chrome and stainless-steel look excellent. A set of Rally wheels wearing BF Goodrich Radial T/As round out the car's curb appeal. Inside, the original Saddle upholstery as well as the dash, door panels and carpet all look great. Options include an AM/FM stereo radio and a tilt/telescopic steering wheel. The gauges are crystal clear and of course include the tach with a 6,500 rpm redline. The factory-issued console plaque proudly proclaims the high-output specs of this king of the 350s: 11:1 compression, 370 horsepower and 380 lbs-feet of torque. Speaking of that mighty 350, the engine compartment presents very well, with the eye candy of the LT-1 -- namely the finned aluminum valve covers and the chrome open element air cleaner -- adding to the special nature of this mill. All that power is sent through the original 4-speed transmission and on to the Positraction rear end. As you'd likely assume, this car is a thrill to drive, with its powerful acceleration, great soundtrack, strong (4-wheel disc) braking and agile handling. Given all that, it's no surprise that this was one of the top driver's cars of its time. For more information or to schedule time to see this iconic LT-1 just give us a call at 603-627-5595. Financing is offered through our approved lender, interesting trades are welcome and enclosed shipping can be arranged.
