**JUST IN, MORE PHOTOS TO COME** Representing a special, one-year-only version of Dodge's iconic first-generation Challenger, the 1970 Challenger T/A is a special car indeed. Sporting a unique, high-winding 340 V8 with triple 2-barrel carburetion, side-exit exhaust, a beefed-up suspension and quick-ratio steering, the athletic Challenger was ready to rumble in SCCA racing. It looked the part, too, with a blacked-out fiberglass, scooped hood, bodyside graphics and front/rear spoilers unavailable on other Challenger trim levels. On offer here is a gorgeous example of a 1970 Challenger T/A. This car's interesting early history includes sitting in a police impound in Rochester, NY, where it was subsequently and ironically stolen. Though the car was found undamaged as far as body and interior go (and still wears all its original body panels), the original powertrain (engine and transmission) was swiped. As a result, the car now has a non-original (but correct for this model) 340 Six Pack V8 and four-speed transmission. Since 1990, it has been in the collection of a gentleman who has a thing for Challengers, as this is one of seven he had in his collection. Note that we will be having the engine detailed shortly, with updated pictures to follow. Originally from Arizona, this T/A still wears its original, rust-free body panels, including the rear quarters and trunk floor. The "Top Banana" yellow paint looks fantastic, with just a few nicks attesting to its occasionally enjoyed status. The 15-inch Rally wheels (shod with staggered width BFG T/A Radials) and those rumbling side exhausts provide the proper attitude. Inside, the "Pistol grip"-shifted 4-speed gearbox provides hands-on interaction while running the high-revving 340 through the gears. The interior is in overall great shape, with the dash, door panels and seats free of cracks and tears. The dash and seats have been restored while the door panels and carpet are believed to be original. The fender tag and a build sheet confirm this Challenger's "real deal" T/A status as well as its born with (and still present) optional features. The latter includes power steering, power front disc brakes and an AM/FM radio. The 340 runs strong and the crisp-shifting transmission has been rebuilt, resealed and fitted with a heavy-duty Centerforce clutch. The "Sure Grip" rear end is original and currently has a 3.55 gear. The original 3.91 gear is included with the car. Underway, the Challenger lives up to its road-racing heritage with its eager acceleration and its (for the era) respectable handling chops. Lay into the 340 and the six-barrels sing as the Challenger rapidly accelerates, adding a thrilling soundtrack to this experience. Restored as needed and properly maintained throughout its life, this Challenger T/A stands ready to provide its next fortunate owner pride at the local Cars and Coffee and kicks out on the open road. Shop the competition and you'll see our price is well below the market. Please call Carroll Street Auto at (603) 627-5595 for further information or to schedule time to view this captivating Challenger T/A. Financing is offered through our approved lender, trades are welcome and enclosed shipping can be arranged.
