1978 Chevrolet Corvette

Although they don’t have the rip-roaring performance of their earlier siblings, the later (1975-1982) third-generation Corvettes (“C3s”) have become very popular. Combining the C3’s iconic styling with a rumbling V8, the open-air thrill of the T-top roof and a much lower price than earlier C3s, these later C3s offer a lot of bang for the buck. Here we have a ‘78 that deserves a close look from anyone wanting a sharp, enjoyable and very affordable ‘vette. This car still retains its original powertrain that sports a few upgrades that increase performance and the fun factor. Wearing a high-quality respray in Maroon and fitted with the factory optional alloy wheels with Goodyear Eagle radials, this Corvette certainly has the looks to go with its personality. The interior is in very good shape with just a few minor flaws seen on the driver’s seat. But overall, the light beige leather upholstery is in fine shape and this C3 is loaded with options such as A/C, power windows, tilt/telescopic steering wheel, and an aftermarket Pioneer AM/FM/CD audio system. The original “L48” 350 cubic-inch (5.7-liter) V8 still resides under the long hood and it runs through the original 4-speed manual transmission. Thanks to some upgrades, such as headers and a true dual exhaust system, there’s plenty of power here along with a proper throaty soundtrack. Chrome valve covers and air cleaner add an old-school look to the engine bay. Having been gone through by our shop, with receipts showing around $3,600 worth of parts and labor, this Corvette runs smoothly and eagerly, handles the curves well and stops with confidence.
