When people think of a classic Jeep, an old CJ-5 or CJ-7 (essentially a longer wheelbase version of the CJ-5) come to mind. Known for being automotive mountain goats that can go through or over anything, these 4WD rigs are a lot of fun for those active sorts that like to go fishing, hiking, biking or camping well off the beaten path. They’re also great for powering through snowy New England winters. Here we have a 1979 Jeep CJ-7 that’s ready for summer cruising or off-roading. This vintage Jeep is originally from Texas and has an excellent original body, undercarriage, and original numbers-matching powertrain. It's powered by an AMC 304 cubic-inch (5.0-liter) V8 that delivers plenty of power. The CJ-7 also has power steering, power front disc brakes and a set of rugged all-terrain tires. This nearly all-original example has only received one single repaint in its original factory “Alpaca Brown” color. A set of alloy wheels wearing those aggressive, white-lettered all-terrain tires adds the right exclamation point to the CJ-7s strong visual statement. Note that the original hard doors are included but the Jeep's hard top and soft top didn't come with the vehicle when we acquired it. As such, we are currently looking for a Black or Tan hard top for the Jeep. The interior is also in fine shape, with no rips or cracks on the dash or seats that look as if they’ve received a very high-quality reupholstering. There’s a tilt steering wheel and a custom center console/armrest as well as a powerful Pioneer AM/FM/CD audio system. As expected, this Jeep runs strong and is ready for whatever adventure you want to throw it into. If you are looking for a really clean, solid original Jeep CJ you'll definitely want to take a closer look at this one. The Jeep has been garaged and comes with a NH State inspection and a 20-day temporary plate.
