The air-cooled Porsche 911s have been hot for quite some time now and the strong market for them shows no signs of letting up. Elemental, quick, agile and offering an involving and entertaining driving experience like no other, it's no wonder these 911s are so sought after. Here we have a 1982 911 SC Targa. The "Targa" body style features a one-piece removable roof panel that offers the open-air experience of a convertible when off and the comfort and added security of a coupe when it's in place. This 911 has enjoyed a sunny life, having been sold new in Sacramento, CA and residing in Reno, NV from 1982-2002. It then spent the next 18 years in the Modesto, CA area until it was relocated to Maine in 2020. As a result of its pampered, ideal climate and minimal use existence, this 911 SC is in beautiful condition. The original Black paint has a brilliant shine and the body panels appear to never have been touched. The included CarFax indicates no accidents or damage. The various rubber trim components appear supple and the Targa roof panel is likewise in fine condition. The 16-inch Fuchs wheels have recently been fitted with high-performance Continental tires. Inside the “frunk” (front trunk) are the original tool kit and compressor. Inside, the original Black leather upholstery is in excellent condition, with the seat cushions/side bolsters still being firmly supportive and retaining their shape, in keeping with the Porsche’s low mileage. Feature highlights include leather seating, A/C, power windows and the original Blaupunkt AM/FM/Cassette audio system (currently inop). The matching-numbers 3.0-liter flat six puts out a stout 180 horsepower -- keep in mind this is when the Corvette’s 5.7-liter V8 made only 200 hp. Running through a five-speed manual and with the 911 weighing less than 2,800 pounds, the Porsche’s performance was thrilling with 0-60 in around 5.9 seconds, a quarter mile in 14.7 seconds and a top speed of 140 mph. Handling and braking are also strong, with communicative steering, sticky tires and large four-wheel disc brakes. This example runs great and comes with the owner’s manual, warranty booklet and various maintenance records. With less than 50k original miles, this very well kept and original 911 SC Targa represents a rare opportunity, as most of this era’s 911s have a lot of miles on them thanks to their stout reliability and high “fun to drive” factor.
