THIS VEHICLE WILL BE AT THE OWL'S HEAD AUCTION ON AUGUST 23. PLEASE REGISTER TO BID IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN IT: https://auction.owlshead.org/ With Chevrolet's (and GMC's) "Square Body" (1973 - 1987) pickup trucks being so popular lately, it's no wonder that Chevy's large Suburban SUV produced during these years also has massive appeal, as it shares very similar styling apart from having the covered cargo area of an SUV rather than an open pickup bed. Crisply styled and functional, these Suburbans also offer plenty of room for eight or nine passengers along with a huge cargo space. Here we have a 1987 Chevy Suburban 1500 2WD Silverado that represents an incredible find as it is technically a one-owner, (second owner had it for just 4 months) well-preserved "Survivor" example with only 6,041 miles on the odometer. Yes, six-thousand-forty-one miles. Unlike some other ultra-low mileage vehicles, this one was properly stored and cared for its entire life and is as close to a new 1987 Suburban as you could hope for. An added perk is that this is the top-of-the-line Silverado trim level (yes, before it became a name for Chevy's pickups). This means it has a plush cloth interior with captain's chairs and a console up front as well as fancier trim throughout the cabin. This one is loaded with options including front and rear ice-cold air-conditioning that still retains its R12 refrigerant, power windows, power locks, cruise control, tilt wheel, and an AM/FM/Cassette audio system. The Suburban's body still boasts all its original panels and paint, which is simply stunning. The interior similarly looks as if it was lifted from the 1987 Suburban brochure and is further testament to the great care the SUV has received from day one. The third row seat is roomy enough for three adults and means this Suburban can transport eight in comfort. Under the hood is Chevrolet's bulletproof 5.7-liter (350 c.i.) V8 that sends the power to the rear wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission. Underway, there's plenty of power and the big Suburban is surprisingly easy to handle and overall provides a pleasant drive and a comfortable and quiet ride. With every box being checked -- condition, mileage, features and desirability, this pristine, time-capsule example of a 1987 Chevy Suburban Silverado is sure to draw plenty of excitement and bids when it crosses the block at the auction.
