1987 Suzuki Samurai

Here is something you don’t see every day, a 1987 Suzuki Samurai. Given that most of these rugged little 4x4s were ultimately driven into the ground and that we’re talking about a 35-year-old example, that’s amazing. These little Suzukis were scrappy little rigs. Indeed, a Samurai can go most anywhere a Jeep Wrangler can thanks to its tough powertrain, truly compact dimensions, high ground clearance and aggressive approach and departure angles. Though powered by just a 1.3-liter four with 63 hp, the light and nimble Samurai made the most of it and with the 5-speed manual was fun to buzz around in whether commuting in the city or taking on some rugged trails. The Samurai offered here has only 56,410 miles and has always been garaged and well cared for. As such, this is an incredibly solid example from top to bottom. It has been repainted in White and sports A/C, a removable rear hard top, a soft top, a mild lift kit with new shocks and springs, and new 235/75/15 off-road tires mounted to black wheels. Inside is in nice shape as well, with new upholstery and excellent instruments and switches. A JVC AM/FM/CD audio system (that is satellite radio-ready) replaced the original radio. The Samurai’s little inline four fires right up and runs strong. The five-speed manual transmission works smoothly as well. The 4WD system features a Low range for serious off-road work. Unlike a thirsty Jeep, the Samurai is a relative fuel sipper that rated 23 mpg city/27 mpg highway and 25 mpg combined.
