Equipped with a 32-valve, DOHC, hand-built V8 and only available with a five-speed stick, the 1996-1998 Mustang Cobra was a special car indeed. With a 5.5-second 0-60 time and the ability to rip down the quarter mile in 14 seconds flat, the Cobra was certainly quick. With a sport-tuned suspension and four-wheel disc brakes, it also handled and stopped like the elite automotive athlete it was. Here we have a 1997 Mustang Cobra convertible that adds top-down capability to the already high fun factor this car provides in couple form. The car is in very good condition all around, with its original Chrystal White paint still gleaming all over the arrow straight body. No aftermarket wheels of questionable taste here, as the Cobra still proudly wears its sharp 17-inch alloys wrapped with performance rubber. Inside, the black leather interior presents well overall, with no rips or tears but just creases not unexpected for 14-year old car. Of course there is A/C, Power windows/locks/seat/mirrors and a powerful audio system. That "Mach 460" system features an AM/FM/CD/Cassette head unit along with 460 watts of power. Fire it up and run through the gears, however, and we doubt you'll be thinking of the stereo as the burly V8 pours out plenty of power while sounding fantastic. The one minor modification is a good one, a cold-air intake that in addition to adding a little power adds a bit more "music" to this Mustang's soundtrack. Compared to its Camaro SS and Trans Am WS6 rivals, the Mustang Cobra offers a more upright seating position with better outward visibility along with a softer ride over rough pavement while still handling like a sports car should.
